The Caputa area running along U.S. Highway 44 east of Rapid City and to the south will be added to the Golden West fiber network in 2024.

Broadband internet access is coming
to the Caputa area!
Golden West's fiber-optic network connection will allow you to perform everyday activities online more easily for education, business, healthcare, entertainment, and more.
CHR Solutions, a contractor working for Golden West, began construction in the area in May. For your safety, every worker has a Golden West name badge. Those at eligible addresses who pre-order service should have a broadband connection by the end of 2024 or very early in 2025.
At that time the following speeds will be available – with no data limits and no contracts – as follows:
- up to 250 Mbps – $64.95/month
- up to 500 Mbps – $84.95/month
- up to 1 Gbps (1 Gig) – $104.95/month
Golden West also offers Wi-Fi plans to serve all of your many wireless devices.
- Ultimate Wi-Fi – $11.00/month. This plan offers exceptional security protection and access control, along with a router lease and Golden West Wi-Fi technical support.
- Managed Wi-Fi – $6.00/month. This plan includes a router lease and Golden West Wi-Fi technical support.

2024 PROJECT UPDATES
April 10, 2025
- All splicing and testing is complete. All cable routes have been turned over to Golden West to connect new customers.
- Golden West is scheduling appointments and technicians are connecting service for new customers.
- Customers who have not yet been notified that their home or business is ready to connect will receive a letter to notify them that Golden West can schedule an appointment.
April 3, 2025
- Golden West is connecting customers on the north and east areas of the project.
- Customers who have not yet been notified that their home or business is ready to connect will receive a letter to notify them that Golden West can schedule an appointment.
March 27, 2025
- Golden West is connecting customers on the north and east areas of the project.
- Fiber splicing, testing, and review of test results is complete the remaining cables in the south and west sections of the project.
- Golden West technicians will make the final fiber connections in the Golden West building in Caputa.
- Customers who have not yet been notified that their home or business is ready to connect will receive a letter to notify them that Golden West can schedule an appointment.
March 20, 2025

- MasTec has finished all splicing repairs. RVW is reviewing splice test results.
- Golden West technicians will make the final fiber connections in the Golden West building in Caputa.
- When the remaining portions of the project are ready to be connected to fiber, customers will receive a letter to notify them that Golden West can schedule an appointment to their connect new service.

- MasTec has completed all splicing on the Caputa project. Engineers will review the test results.
- Golden West technicians will make the final fiber connections in the Golden West building in Caputa.
