The Hill City area running along S.D. Highway 385 and east along Highway 323, also known as the Old Hill City Road will be added to the Golden West fiber network in 2025.

Golden West's fiber-optic network connection will allow you to perform everyday activities online more easily for education, business, healthcare, entertainment, and more.
The following speeds will be available – with no data limits and no contracts:
- up to 250 Mbps – Starting at $64.95/month, recommended for users who email, browse online, and stream on one or two devices.
- up to 500 Mbps – Starting at $84.95/month, recommended for users who do a lot of streaming and connect multiple devices at the same time.
- up to 1 Gbps (1 Gig) – Starting at $104.95/month, recommended for users who telecommunicate, stream in high definition, or are serious online gamers.
Golden West also offers Wi-Fi plans to serve all of your many wireless devices.
- Ultimate Wi-Fi – $11.00/month. This plan offers exceptional security protection and access control, along with a router lease and Golden West Wi-Fi technical support.
- Managed Wi-Fi – $6.00/month. This plan includes a router lease and Golden West Wi-Fi technical support.

- Both south and east of Hill City, Golden West technicians are installing clamshells on houses where customers have signed up for new service.
- North Central Service will have a crew working along Highway 385 near SD Highway 87.

April 17, 2025
- Both south and east of Hill City, Golden West technicians are installing clamshells on houses where customers have signed up for new service.
- North Central Service will have a rock saw and a bore crew working along US Highway 385 near Dead Broke Road. The plow will be on Dead Broke Road working on prepping the area for cable.
- A crew is plowing lines to customer homes on Reno Gulch Road, Dead Broke Road, and US Highway 385.

April 10, 2025
- Golden West technicians are installing clamshells on houses where customers have signed up for new service.
- North Central Service has started construction. They have one pre-rip plow and one crew boring, or drilling and inserting pipe, along Highway 385 from Cowboy Gulch headed south towards Custer.
- A crew is plowing lines to customer homes on Goodart Rd, Reno Gulch Road, Dead Broke Road, Barrel Springs Road, US Highway 385, and Raga Road.
April 3, 2025
- Golden West technicians are installing clamshells on houses where customers have signed up for new service.
- Engineering consultants have been marking the locations to be bored along the construction route.
- Contractors will begin moving materials to their construction yard to prepare for plowing.
- Crews will be contacting homeowners who have ordered service before plowing fiber to their homes.
