When you are ready to display your website on the World Wide Web, you must publish your website. Publishing a website is basically copying the files from your computer to a Web server. The name of your home page needs to be named index.html or default.html.

- In the address line of your browser type: ftp://username@ftp.isp.com. Replace username with your Golden West username. Replace isp.com with the ending of your email address or Internet account (gwtc.net, goldenwest.net, enetis.net, rapidnet.com, siouxvalley.net, unitelsd.com, kadokatelco.com).
- You will be prompted for your username and password. After entering your username and password, you will be taken to a page that says 'FTP root at ftp.isp.com', where isp.com is replaced by the same ending as your email address. Follow the directions that say 'To view this site in Windows Explorer, click Page, and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer.'
- A Windows Explorer window will pop up with an FTP Folder error that says 'Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder' Click OK.
- Click File, then Login As... in the Windows Explorer window and type in your username and password.
- Double click on the default web folder to open it (it may be called public_html, www, or webpages). Shrink this window (don't minimize).
- Open the web files on your computer (navigate on your computer, hard drive or disc) highlight the files and drag your webpage files from your hard drive/disc to the browser window (make sure to include all of your HTML and image files). This will make a copy of the files from your computer to our web server.

- The information needed to login with FTP software is:
- Select the files or folders on the source system.
- Open the folder to which you want to transfer files on the destination system (the folder is activated by default, depending on the Internet account you have the web folder may be listed as public_html, www or webpages). Double click to open this folder.
- To make a copy of the files to our server:
- In the local system side locate the website files on your computer.
- Highlight the files
- Click on the arrow button to transfer the files from your computer to our server (remote site). Make sure to include all of your HTML and image files.
- Once logged in you can publish your website files:
- When you have your files correctly uploaded you should be able to view your website via a web browser at http://www.isp.com/~username (replace isp.com with the ending of your email address or Internet account (gwtc.net, goldenwest.net, enetis.net, rapidnet.com, siouxvalley.net, unitelsd.com), replace yourusername with your Golden West username). If you have set up a registered domain name you will be able to view the website via the domain name using your web browsers address bar.
