Virtual email uses your domain name in the address (example yourname@yourdomain.com). The virtual email address is set up to forward to a 'real' email address such as your existing Golden West email account.
Virtual email addresses are often easier to remember. Consider it a portable email address, a virtual email address makes it easier to change your 'real' email address. You can inform everyone to email to your virtual email address so if you were to change the 'real' email address you won't have to inform your contacts of a new email address.
All email sent to your virtual email address will be automatically forwarded to your 'real' email inbox. This process is completely transparent. If you configure your email software correctly, you can continue to use your real email address, but make all email you send look as if it comes from your virtual email address.
